Job Description:
Higher Level Business Support Officer
*Pay Rate: £13.60 - £14.72 per hour (PAYE)
*Location: Oldham Council
*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (3 months)
Oldham Council are looking for an experienced Higher Level Business Support Officer to provide effective and comprehensive support. This role involves working as part of a team and handling more service-specific administration duties. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing complex tasks and providing high-level support to senior management.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Type and produce presentations using computerised presentation packages and format existing presentations.
*Retrieve information from computerised databases, manipulate data, and create non-standard reports.
*Run data reports, correct errors, and analyse service-specific information, requesting additional details or clarification as required.
*Assist with the diary management for assigned senior managers in designated service areas.
*Undertake progress chasing, prepare papers and agendas, and investigate anomalies or discrepancies.
*Develop knowledge and understanding of the service area to respond to complex queries.
*Formulate routine responses and acknowledgements to correspondence and take initiative on behalf of the service.
*Carry out investigations into complaints in line with corporate procedures and escalate where appropriate.
*Support quality assurance and propose improvements to business processes to ensure accurate delivery of information, advice, and guidance to customers.
*Coordinate large events, meetings, and manage logistics like booking venues and ordering refreshments in accordance with council policy.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a local government setting.
*Strong ability to type and produce complex documents and presentations.
*Proficient in using computerised databases and presentation software.
*Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
*Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle statistical and financial data.
*Experience in diary management and event coordination.
*Ability to adhere to council policies and financial guidelines/regulations.
