Job Description:
ROLE SUMMARY
Working as part of the Finance team, the Accounts Assistant will provide essential support across Accounts Receivable, Credit Control and Accounts Payable activities. The role focuses on ensuring accurate invoicing, timely cash collection support, efficient transaction processing and well-maintained financial records.
This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in finance within a dynamic, entrepreneurial, private-equity-owned, fast-growth business.
Hours & Location: 37.5 Hours per week, Monday-Friday. 9.00-5.30pm
This is an office-based position with opportunity to work from home one day per week following successful training and probation period.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Receivable & Credit Control Support
*Assist with the distribution of sales invoices and customer statements.
*Upload invoices to customer portals and support portal management.
*Support the resolution of customer invoice queries, liaising with sales and operations to ensure timely follow-up and accurate documentation.
*Monitor customer accounts for upcoming and overdue payments, escalating issues where required.
*Support credit control activity by contacting customers via email and telephone to follow up on outstanding invoices.
*Maintain accurate records of customer communications, payment arrangements and credit control actions.
*Assist with the preparation of aged debt reports and debtor status updates.
*Support the processing of refunds and credit note repayments where required.
*Assist with Know Your Customer (KYC) /Anti Money Laundering (AML) checks and customer credit applications.
Accounts Payable & Transaction Processing
*Manage the Accounts Inbox daily, ensuring supplier and internal queries are responded to promptly and professionally.
*Process supplier invoices, staff expenses and payment requests accurately and in a timely manner.
*Support supplier statement reconciliations and follow up on discrepancies.
*Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including banking transactions and reconciliations.
Financial Reporting & Reconciliations
*Support data preparation for monthly reconciliations across AR, AP and general ledger accounts.
*Support the annual audit through accurate documentation, filing and query resolution.
*Maintain organised and efficient filing systems for financial documents.

*Comply with all relevant internal rules, policy and procedures, including those relating to Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), Data Protection and all those contained in Employee Policies and Procedures.
*Undertake other duties and tasks that may be allocated that are reasonable and appropriate to the job.
SKILLS AND QUALITIES
Attention to Detail: Essential for accurate processing of invoices, reconciliations and financial records.
Organisation: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and maintain systematic records.
Analytical Skills: Capable of identifying discrepancies, supporting reconciliations and assisting with credit control analysis.
Communication: Strong written and spoken communication skills for dealing with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively across finance, sales and operations.
Technical Skills:
*Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (including basic formulas and data handling).
*Comfortable using ERP/finance systems.
Problem-Solving: Able to support the resolution of invoice queries and payment issues.
Professionalism: Integrity, discretion and sound judgement.
Adaptability: Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates a strong desire to succeed.


QUALIFICATIONS
*AAT Level 2 (minimum) or equivalent finance-related study.
*GCSEs including Mathematics and English - Grades 4-9 (A*-C) or Functional Skills Level 2.
*A-levels or equivalent further education desirable.
