Job Description:
Location: Rugby
Start Date: 23/02/2026 (after February half-term)
Hours: Full-time or part-time (3 days per week)
Contract: Temp to Perm
A well-established SEND school in Rugby is looking for an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team in a Post 16 setting. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and is ready to take on greater responsibility within the classroom.
Your new company
As an HLTA, you’ll play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Pupils may have:
*Autism and communication needs
*Physical disabilities
*Complex learning difficulties
*Social, emotional, or behavioural needs
Your responsibilities will include:
*Leading small-group sessions and delivering planned learning activities
*Providing targeted 1:1 support where required
*Assisting with personal care when needed
*Supporting teachers with planning and classroom preparation
*Covering lessons in the teacher’s absence (where appropriate)
*Helping pupils develop independence, confidence, and life skills
*Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
What we’re looking for
*HLTA qualification or strong experience as a senior TA
*Experience working with SEND pupils
*Confident leading groups and delivering planned activities
*A calm, patient, and proactive approach
*Willingness to support with personal care
*Strong communication and organisational skills
