Our client, a leading UK water and wastewater services provider, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in modernising and transforming sewage treatment infrastructure.
This is an opportunity to deliver innovative, resilient, and cost-effective engineering solutions that protect public health, safeguard ecosystems, and support sustainable regional growth. You will work at the forefront of complex capital projects, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and operational performance across major infrastructure programmes.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will: *Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, asset managers, and operations specialists to develop resilient, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
*Provide technical assurance and oversight of consultants and contractors delivering large, complex capital projects.
*Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry regulations, and internal engineering standards.
*Support health, safety, and wellbeing objectives by reviewing Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Safe Systems of Work.
*Identify, manage, and escalate project risks and opportunities throughout the lifecycle.
*Contribute to the production of Project Briefs and respond to technical queries (RFIs) in a timely manner.
*Support the delivery of high-quality, sustainable engineering outcomes that meet environmental and operational requirements.
Location & Working Pattern
*Hybrid working arrangement.
*2–3 days per week on site at a regional sewage treatment facility to support design reviews, assurance activities, and project delivery.
*36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Requirments:
*Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
*Experience within a design and construction engineering environment.
*Working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).
Desirable:
*Strong technical understanding of pumping systems and mechanical package plant.
*Experience delivering integrated solutions across multiple engineering disciplines.
