Job Description:
Software Developer (Java/ Scala)
Location: Hybrid – Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, London
Permanent £50-70k (Active SC/ Eligible for SC clearance)
Our client is looking for several people to join a growing team.
Technical Skills
*Strong expertise in Java or Scala (preferred)
*Experience with languages such as Kotlin, Ruby, or JavaScript
*Deep understanding of:
*Programming paradigms
*Code design
*Testing strategies
*Accessibility
*Performance
*Security
*Proven ability to apply a range of testing tools and methodologies
*Knowledge of delivering complex services aligned to GDS standards
*Comfortable adopting new technologies; adaptable and continuously learning
*Strong experience working within agile environments
Responsibilities
*Driving elaboration and refinement of the team backlog
*Defining and implementing effective testing strategies aligned with industry standards
*Acting as the technical expert or team lead where required
*Leading technical representation during discovery phases
*Mentoring and coaching colleagues to support professional growth
*Demonstrating leadership within internal communities of practice
