KCR Solutions are delighted to be recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join a dynamic accountancy practice in Newcastle. The ideal candidate will be organised, confident communicating with clients and HMRC, and comfortable working with cloud-based accounting software.
Key Responsibilities
*Perform client bookkeeping on cloud accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.
*Code and analyse financial transactions accurately.
*Reconcile bank and cash accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
*Prepare management accounts for internal and client reporting.
*Assist in the preparation of annual accounts up to trial balance.
*Complete and submit VAT returns for a range of clients.
*Review VAT returns prepared by others prior to final submission.
*Ensure VAT compliance in line with current HMRC regulations.
*Communicate with clients professionally via email, phone, and face-to-face meetings.
*Liaise with HMRC regarding client queries, submissions, and compliance matters.
*Provide timely updates and guidance to clients regarding their financial information.
Skills & Experience
*Experience in a similar accounts or bookkeeping role (practice experience beneficial).
*Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
*Good communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, and work to deadlines.
*Knowledge of VAT rules and submissions.
*Competence with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
*Experience with cloud accounting platforms (Xero/QuickBooks/Sage) preferred.
