Trainee Paraplanner – Independent Financial Planning Firm | Edinburgh
Are you looking to build a long-term career in financial planning and paraplanning?
Join a highly respected independent financial planning firm in Edinburgh, where you’ll be supported, trained, and developed into a fully qualified Paraplanner.
About the Role
As a Trainee Paraplanner, you’ll work closely with an experienced Paraplanner and Financial Adviser, gaining hands-on exposure to the full advice process. This role is ideal for someone with foundations in financial services who is ready to take the next step into a more technical, advice-support position.
You’ll support research, report writing, and client preparation work while developing key skills in cashflow modelling, suitability reporting, and product analysis. As you progress, you’ll take on more responsibility and gradually step into full paraplanning duties.
Key Responsibilities
*Support the preparation of client reports and suitability letters
*Assist with product and investment research
*Help input and maintain accurate client data in back-office systems
*Learn to prepare cashflow modelling and retirement projections
*Process new business applications and ongoing policy administration
*Liaise with providers to gather information and resolve queries
*Ensure all work meets FCA and compliance standards
*Provide general administration and technical support to the advice team
*Work closely with senior paraplanners to develop your technical knowledge
What We’re Looking For
*Experience in a financial services either in an IFA support role or as a Junior Paraplanner
*A strong interest in developing a technical career within financial planning
*Good understanding of pensions, investments, or protection products (desirable)
*Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
*Confident communicator with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team
*Studying towards the Level 4 Diploma – or a desire to begin studying
