Job Description:
We’re looking for an experienced purchase ledger clerk to lead the accounts payable function. You’ll manage a busy team, ensure accurate and timely invoice processing, and drive efficiency across the finance function. Working closely with colleagues in transactional accounting, you’ll help improve processes, support financial reporting, and contribute to wider organisational initiatives. Description
*Lead the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring invoices are processed accurately, payments are made on time, and workflows support effective cash-flow management.
*Manage and support a team responsible for invoice processing, including performance reviews, regular 121 meetings, training, target setting, and day to day workload coordination.
*Build strong working relationships across departments and with external partners to improve collaboration, streamline processes, and contribute to policy and service enhancement.
*Serve as a primary contact point for auditors and oversight groups, providing clear information and assurance on accounts payable activity.
*Prepare regular and ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support management decision making.
*Maintain clear, accurate, and up to date documentation outlining all relevant processes and team procedures.
*Work closely with payment and procurement functions to ensure supplier details are accurate, compliant, and routinely reconciled.
*Take on additional responsibilities when required, supporting broader team and organisational needs.
*Promote a culture of continuous improvement by contributing ideas, solving operational challenges creatively, and supporting collaborative working across teams.
Profile
A successful Accounts Payable Manager should have:
*Proven experience in accounts payable and financial management
*Strong leadership and team management skills.
*Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy.
*Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
*Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
