Transport Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join their team. You will be working closely with the Branch Manager to support the day-to-day requirements of their Road Freight operations and customer portfolio.
You will:


*Manage the daily road freight operations across the UK and Europe for all customers
*Communicate and negotiate with clients regarding shipping documentation, delivery arrangements, and freight pricing
*Provide prompt, professional responses to customer enquiries
*Work closely with Branch Managers and internal teams on special projects, rate negotiations, service level agreements (SLAs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to road transport
*Manage and maintain relationships with road haulage suppliers, ensuring high service standards at competitive rates
*Prepare and submit weekly and monthly road freight reports to Branch Managers
*Ensure all road transport jobs are processed and completed accurately within Cargowise
*Maintain close coordination with shipment coordinators, ensuring accurate vehicle details and timings are communicated in line with established booking procedures
*Ensure customers and shipment coordinators receive all required documentation, including PODs and invoices
*Complete invoicing and accrual processes promptly in collaboration with Branch Managers, Operations, and Accounts teams
*Take ownership of the Road Transport profit and loss performance


The ideal candidate will:


*Have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience within a similar role
*Have good 3PL knowledge
*Have a professional and confident telephone manner
*Have strong customer service and relationship management skills
*Have the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, suppliers, agents, and colleagues
*Be proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
*Be resilient and capable of handling challenging situations effectively
*Have a flexible and adaptable approach to work
*Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
*Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
