The company:
Our client is a chartered accountancy practice, located in the heart of a historical town in West Cambridgeshire. They situated in charming offices immediately next to public transport, with access across Cambridgeshire as well as providing their staff with parking facilities.
They are highly respected in the community and in their profession, having built a loyal and steadily increasing clientele off the back of their high level of service and calibre of work.
The role:
Company Secretary, managing a portfolio of clients to deliver high quality company secretarial services in line with the Companies Act 2006 and UK regulatory requirements.
This highly essential post is very much a hands-on role for whom someone with experience in this area would be most successful. You will work independently whilst supporting the wider team. Acting as the main contact for company secretarial clients, duties include:
- Prepare and file Confirmation Statements and Companies House forms
- Maintain statutory registers (PSC, directors, shareholders)
- Manage Ltd and LLP incorporations
- Draft board minutes, resolutions, and dividend paperwork
- Process changes to officers, registered office, share capital, and shareholders
- Support share allotments, transfers, and basic reorganisations
- Maintain accurate records within secretarial software
- Assist with AML checks, onboarding, and client monitoring
- Handle disengagements and professional clearance requests
- Support billing, fee renewals, and engagement updates
- Act as first point of contact for allocated company secretarial clients
- Liaise with accountants, tax team members, solicitors, and banks where required
- Support clients with share allotments, transfers, and basic reorganisations
Given the nature and level of the Company Secretary, the required skills and experience are:
- Minimum 2–3 years’ company secretarial experience ideally within a UK accountancy practice or similar, transferable environment
- Strong working knowledge of the Companies Act 2006
- Experience using Companies House WebFiling and/or secretarial software (e.g. CCH)
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines independently
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Clear and professional written communication skills
