Your Company:
NET Recruit is supporting an organisation within the housing and services sector to appoint a Financial Operations Officer to join its Group Services function. This role sits within the Financial Operations team and plays a key part in ensuring the accurate processing, allocation, and reconciliation of income across the organisation’s finance and housing management systems.
Working closely with the Financial Operations Team Leader and wider internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of customer and debtor accounts, supporting effective credit control, and ensuring that income, charges, and refunds are processed accurately and on time. The role contributes directly to strong financial controls, customer service excellence, and the smooth operation of core financial processes.

Your Role:
While in this position your duties may include but will not be limited to:
*Accurately processing and allocating all payments received, including cash, benefits, housing benefit, and Universal Credit, through finance and housing management systems
*Posting debtor invoices, cash receipts, and batch transactions to the appropriate systems, ensuring completeness and accuracy
*Raising, issuing, and despatching sales ledger invoices in line with agreed procedures
*Responding to customer requests regarding payment methods, including standing orders, direct debits, giro payments, and other payment arrangements
*Reconciling cash and transfer postings and resolving unposted, queried, or suspense items in a timely manner
*Preparing customer refunds in accordance with internal controls and authorisation procedures
*Reviewing customer and debtor credit balances and investigating discrepancies where required
*Supporting prompt recovery of unpaid accounts and debts not managed by the income recovery team
*Administering and collecting Direct Debits, including recording, correcting, and resolving rejected payments
*Ensuring all Direct Debit receipts are correctly allocated to customer accounts
*Creating and amending customer accounts, charges, garage rents, and service charges as required
*Resolving rent and income allocation queries, liaising with other departments where necessary
*Providing credit control cover for the Financial Operations Team Leader, including debt collection and query resolution
*Managing incoming correspondence, including emails, post, and telephone enquiries
*Ensuring reconciliations between the bank, housing management system, and financial ledgers are completed accurately
*Posting write-offs and write-ons in line with policy and providing financial information to internal departments
*Contributing to ad hoc projects, system improvements, and service development initiatives
*Actively supporting continuous improvement within the Financial Operations team and undertaking any other reasonable duties as required
You MUST Have:

*Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent), including passes in English and Maths
*Experience working with computerised finance or accounting systems, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
*Previous experience in a transaction processing or finance operations environment
*Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and CRM or finance databases
*Strong numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
*Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage workloads effectively, often under pressure and to tight deadlines
*Demonstrable ability to identify, challenge, and resolve anomalies in financial data
*A high level of accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality, particularly when handling sensitive data
*Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues in writing, face to face, and over the telephone
*A collaborative, proactive, and flexible approach to work, with a strong customer service ethos
