Financial Accountant
Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Elevation Recruitment Accountancy & Finance are recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join a well-established finance team within a fast-paced and growing organisation.

This is a key role responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting the wider finance function with month-end, statutory, and operational accounting activities.

This position offers excellent exposure across multiple areas of finance and would suit someone looking to further develop their technical accounting expertise within a structured environment.

Key Responsibilities
*Prepare monthly journals, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments
*Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data
*Produce monthly financial reports and support group reporting requirements
*Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies
*Maintain and monitor financial controls in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements
*Take ownership of the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations
*Support purchase ledger and sales ledger functions
*Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure ongoing compliance with HMRC requirements
*Assist with payroll-related finance processes
*Support the preparation of cash flow forecasts and monitor cash position
*Assist with annual reporting requirements, including P11Ds and other statutory obligations
*Provide analysis of costs and overheads against budget and forecast
*Support the Financial Controller with budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis
*Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and controls

Skills and Experience Required
*Strong understanding of core financial accounting principles
*Experience supporting month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
*Good working knowledge of Excel and accounting systems
*High level of accuracy and attention to detail
*Strong organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines
*Analytical mindset with the ability to investigate and explain variances
*Proactive approach and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
