Job Description:
BRB TEMPS are currently looking for experienced chefs around Merseyside and surrounding areas.
As an Agency Chef, you will ensure the nutritional content of the meals provided and cater for the dietary needs of all residents. You will be responsible for the meal service and provision of refreshments for the residents and visitors at the Home as well as ensuring the smooth operational running of the kitchen and that the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained.
Due to the care home environment, and the vulnerability of residents, excellent food Hygiene, knowledge of COSHH and application of the HACCP management system are vital. A quick learner, who enjoys being hands on, with a willingness to be flexible in tasks and activities would excel is this position.
Please note that a valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate is mandatory for all staff working in care homes. If you don’t currently possess a DBS, we can assist you in obtaining one.
Duties
*To deliver high quality prepared food within the service.
*Create a variety of nutritious and well-balanced meal.
*Follow dietary needs of the people we support.
*Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
*Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
*Maintain a clean working station whilst adhering to health & safety standards.
*Assist with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment.
*Restock items as needed throughout the shift.
*Adhere to all food hygiene & safety standards.
*Managing all mandatory paperwork including adhering to COSHH and HACCP guidelines, company policies and procedures, budgets, managing orders and deliveries.

Requirements
*Essential Level 2 in food safety and hygiene.
*Desirable Holds a City & Guilds certificates 7061/2/3 or a relevant NVQ Level 2– for example, in food preparation and catering.
*Experience of food preparation and cooking for large groups of people.
*Good understanding of HACCP and COSHH
*Experience in using various kitchen equipment.
*Knowledge of culinary, baking and cooking techniques.
*Knowledge of nutrition and allergens.
*Able to demonstrate an ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, communicate effectively at all levels.
*Provide your own Chefs Whites and Safety Shoes.
*Have your own DBS for adults and children on update service or be willing to purchase a new one for? Please be aware the current charge rate for a new DBS is £65.50
