Role Overview
The Housing Options Advisor will support the Housing Options service by undertaking triage and casework on homelessness applications. The role focuses on reducing backlogs and waiting times by providing timely assessments, advice, and statutory decisions for individuals who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.


Key Responsibilities
*Act as a Triage Officer handling daily homeless on-the-day approaches
*Assess homelessness applications under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996
*Manage a varied caseload, providing advice, support, and prevention options
*Make statutory decisions including not homeless and not eligible outcomes
*Produce clear, accurate, and legally compliant decision letters
*Liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
*Use the Jigsaw system to manage cases and record decisions


Key Requirements
*Strong working knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996
*Proven experience in housing advice, homelessness casework, and triage
*Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume caseload
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Experience using the Jigsaw housing system
*Must be local and able to attend the office 4 days per week
