Job Description:
Reed Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a manufacturing business based in Newport. Due to an increase in orders, they currently have a requirement for an experienced Multidrop Van Driver based locally to deliver right across the UK (Not Ireland). This will be a lone working position, and you will be responsible for delivering goods to both domestic clients and commercial clients. You will be responsible for assisting prior to the deliveries in the Warehouse and unloading on arrival.
Although this is initially a temporary vacancy, there is a good chance that for the right candidate this could result in permanent employment. You must be willing to stay away from home as required due to the scope and distances covered within this role.

*£13.24 p/h

*Hour of Work: Either 6.00am - 2.30pm or 7.30am - 4.00pm
Van Driver Duties and Responsibilities
*Safely operate a company van to complete multiple deliveries on a designated route.
*Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery deadlines and optimise fuel and time.
*Deliver goods to customers, businesses, or depots.
*Load and unload the vehicle safely, using correct handling techniques.
*Verify delivery details including addresses, special instructions, and time windows.
*Obtain signatures, proof-of-delivery (POD), or digital scans as required.
*Represent the company professionally at every delivery location.
*Provide excellent customer service and handle queries or concerns politely.
*Communicate with customers when necessary, about delivery timings or issues.
*Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle checks (tyres, lights, fluids, safety equipment).
*Report any vehicle defects, damage, or maintenance needs promptly.
*Keep the delivery vehicle clean, tidy, and fuelled.
*Follow all road safety laws, driving regulations, and company driving policies.
*Ensure all parcels are correct, accounted for, and loaded according to the manifest.
*Follow delivery sheet or handheld device instructions accurately.
*Report failed deliveries, address discrepancies, or damaged goods following procedure.
*Maintain accurate records of miles driven, routes, and daily delivery logs.
*Follow manual handling guidelines and use safe lifting techniques.
*Adhere to all company health and safety procedures.
*Wear required PPE where applicable.
*Secure goods safely in the van to prevent shifting during transit.
*Liaise with depot staff, planners, or dispatch regarding progress or delays.
*Report traffic issues, customer escalations, or route disruptions promptly.
*Use handheld scanners, apps, or navigation devices correctly.
*Assist in the warehouse or depot during quieter times (sorting, scanning, loading).
*Support colleagues with route coverage when needed.
*Comply with company policies relating to conduct, security, and confidentiality.
Van Driver Essential Requirements
*No more than 6 points on the driving license and no prior spent or unspent driving convictions
*Previously experience within a similar role is essential
*Uk Driving License
*Excellent customer service skills
*Flexibility of start and finish times
*Willingness to stay away due to the scope of the role
