Locum Childcare Solicitor – Yorkshire Local Authority
£55–£60 per hour | Full-Time (37 hours) | Temporary Contract | Early March – August 2026
A Yorkshire local authority is seeking an experienced Locum Childcare Solicitor to join their Legal Services team on a full-time temporary basis. This role will provide cover while the council recruits to a permanent post, running from early March 2026 until August 2026.
The successful candidate will manage a full caseload of public law children matters, preparing applications, statements, evidence, and providing legal advice to social workers and internal stakeholders. Advocacy is required several times per month, so the role involves travel to local courts.
To be considered, you must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or FILEX with strong experience in childcare and public law proceedings, ideally within a local authority setting. You will be confident handling your own advocacy and capable of managing a busy, fast-paced caseload with minimal supervision.
This role offers up to £60 per hour, 37 hours per week, and the opportunity to join a supportive in-house legal team during a key period of recruitment.
