Job Description:
Transport Planner
*Hourly Rate: £20.68 PAYE
*Job Type: Hybrid (with some office days required)
*Location: Doncaster
Join our Client, a leading local authority in Doncaster as a Transport Planner and play a pivotal role in shaping how people and goods move around the area. This position involves supporting the development and implementation of transport policies and strategies from local to national levels, and managing transport aspects of planning applications.
Day-to-day of the role:
Planning & Strategy
*Develop and deliver transport strategies for the area.
*Stay updated with national, regional, and local transport policies.
Advice & Support
*Provide advice on transport standards and requirements to colleagues, developers, and partners.
*Participate in regional and national meetings to represent Doncaster Council’s interests.
Planning Applications
*Manage and respond to consultations on planning applications.
*Review and comment on transport assessments, transport statements, and travel plans.
Partnership Work
*Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to address transport issues and enhance current arrangements.
Financial & Project Management
*Assist in managing budgets for transport programmes.
*Plan and monitor budgets to ensure efficient spending.
*Oversee the performance of contractors and suppliers delivering transport services.
Quality & Standards
*Ensure transport projects adhere to policy, design standards, and financial guidelines.
*Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transport policy, legislation, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Degree in Transport Planning, Planning, or a related field.
*Strong knowledge of transport policy, planning, highways design standards, and relevant legislation.
*Excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
*Experience in cross-functional project delivery within transport sectors.
*Understanding of project management methodologies.
*Ability to produce detailed, high-quality reports.
*Confidence in representing the Council at various committees and meetings with developers, the public, and stakeholders.
*Proven track record of delivering projects within set standards and budgets.
