Job Description:
Building Facilities Assistant
*£13.25 p/h
*Location: Exeter
*Full-time 30 hours, varied shift patterns.
*Assignment until 16th March 2026 or beyond
*ASAP start
We are seeking a dedicated Building Facilities Assistant to join our client in Exeter. This role involves a blend of security, maintenance, and customer service duties, ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of the facility.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Management Team and report to the Senior Supervisor.
Day-to-day of the Building Facilities Assistant:
*Maintain a safe and secure environment for the building, its personnel, and contents, including locking/unlocking procedures, facilities checks, and regular patrols.
*Provide excellent customer service to all visitors, assist with access needs, and support contractors and room hirers.
*Assist in maintaining Health & Safety compliance within the building, ensuring all checks are completed and recorded timely.
*Supervise the building during the absence of senior staff, coordinate building evacuations, and liaise with emergency services as needed.
*Manage room setups for hires, ensuring all equipment is functional and IT support is provided for events.
*Monitor building use during events, ensuring safety procedures are followed and providing assistance to hirers.
*Handle and report any incidents or antisocial behaviour in line with established procedures.
*Maintain a thorough understanding of building systems and perform general maintenance and cleaning as required.
*Oversee waste disposal and act as a key holder, responding to emergency call-outs when necessary.
Skills
*Proven experience in facility operations or a similar role, with a focus on security and maintenance.
*Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle various stakeholders including the public and contractors.
*Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and comfortable performing physical tasks.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with reliable decision-making skills.
*Basic IT skills for managing room equipment and troubleshooting minor issues.
