Job Title: Housing Navigator
Location: Derby (London Road Campus)
Salary: £23,569 – £25,407 per annum (pending pay award)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week (rolling shift pattern including evenings, weekends and bank holidays)
Working Pattern: Minimum of 6 evenings per month
Start Date: ASAP
Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence & Access to Own Vehicle (Essential)

About the Role

This is a meaningful and rewarding opportunity to join an established supported housing service as a Housing Navigator, supporting adults and young people to build independence, resilience and confidence.

The role focuses on empowering residents to achieve their potential through a strengths-based, Advantaged Thinking approach, recognising talents, abilities and future opportunities rather than focusing solely on challenges.

You will work alongside individuals who may have experienced homelessness, trauma, social exclusion or multiple disadvantage. Through relationship-based support, advocacy and practical guidance, you will help residents move towards greater independence and long-term stability.

This role combines housing management responsibilities with person-centred support and multi-agency partnership working.

Working Hours & Flexibility (Important)

*35 hours per week
*Rolling rota including evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Key Responsibilities – Resident Support

*Empower residents to build independence using a strengths-based approach
*Build trusting, professional relationships with adults and young people
*Advocate for residents and support them to have a voice
*Support individuals to achieve agreed goals and move towards independent living
*Deliver and support engaging group sessions and activities
*Provide practical resettlement support when residents move on to independent accommodation
*Remain calm and professional when managing challenging behaviour
*Maintain strong safeguarding practices and ensure resident safety at all times
*Promote equality, diversity and inclusion within daily practice
Housing & Operational Responsibilities

*Support delivery of housing management functions
*Assist residents in understanding and adhering to licence agreements
*Support rent collection and financial responsibility
*Conduct room checks and health & safety checks
*Encourage resident engagement within meetings and communal living
*Accurately record information using internal systems
*Prepare reports and maintain accurate case records
*Work in line with relevant legislation and organisational policies
Partnership & Multi-Agency Working

*Build strong relationships with housing, health and social care professionals
*Work collaboratively with benefits, welfare and advocacy services
*Liaise with external landlords and agencies where appropriate
*Contribute to continuous service improvement
Successful Applicant Profile

Essential:

*Experience supporting vulnerable adults or young people
*Experience of multi-agency working
*Ability to manage competing tasks and prioritise workload
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Confident using digital systems and record-keeping tools
*Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
*Proactive, self-motivated and resilient
*Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
*Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable

*Experience within supported housing or homelessness services
*Knowledge of housing legislation and welfare systems
*Experience facilitating group activities
*Understanding of trauma-informed or strengths-based approaches
