Trinity House Group are looking for a Transactional Manager to join a large, complex services business in Wolverhampton.

The Transactional Services Manager is responsible for leading and developing the businesses core financial processing functions across the following teams: Payroll & Pensions, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Credit Control, Banking & Cash Management, and the Finance Systems Team. This comprises of approximately 30 people.

The post holder will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing of all transactions while driving efficiency, service excellence, and high standards of financial control. They will play a key role in supporting system improvements, maintaining data integrity, and enabling efficient financial decision-making across the business.

Leadership & Management
*Provide strong, visible leadership to team leaders and staff across all areas: Payroll, Pensions, AP, AR/Credit Control, Banking, Payroll and Finance Systems.
*Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, accountability and service excellence.
*Develop staff capability through coaching, training, and performance management, ensuring effective succession planning.
*Lead change within transactional and systems operations, ensuring teams are supported through transitions.
*Ensure 121’s, team meetings and appraisals are performed.
Operational Management
*Oversee end-to-end processing across each operational area:
*Payroll – ensuring accurate and timely monthly payroll cycles.
*Pensions – compliance with scheme rules and statutory obligations.
*Accounts Payable – prompt and accurate processing of supplier invoices, expenses, and payments.
*Accounts Receivable & Credit Control – efficient billing, debt management, and income collection.
*Banking & Cash Management – daily reconciliations, cash flow monitoring, merchant services, and controls.
*Finance Systems Team – ownership of finance system configuration, user support, maintenance of master data, workflow management, controls, and system optimisation.
*Ensure compliance with HMRC, pension regulators, audit requirements, procurement legislation, and internal policies.
*Monitor and report on KPIs, ensuring service levels are met or exceeded.
Systems, Data & Process Improvement
*Direct and support the Finance Systems Team in managing the University’s financial systems (e.g., ERP, AP automation tools, student finance integrations, payroll systems, banking platforms).
*Lead continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on simplification, automation, and improved data quality.
*Champion digital transformation across transactional finance, including reducing manual processes and increasing workflow efficiency.
*Work closely with IT and system owners to plan and support upgrades, testing, troubleshooting, and new system implementations.
*Ensure robust system controls, segregation of duties, and accurate master data management.
Financial Control & Risk Management
*Maintain a strong internal control environment across all transactional and systems processes.
*Ensure appropriate reconciliations, checks, and risk management measures are in place and functioning.
*Oversee resolution of complex transactional issues and system-related problems.
*Support month-end and year-end activities through accurate data, reconciliations, and reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement
*Serve as a central point of expertise for transactional and system-related queries.
*Build strong relationships with other Directorates and Faculty Heads
*Provide training, guidance, and clear communication to ensure staff across the University understand financial processes and system requirements.
*Represent the transactional and systems function at internal working groups and committees.
