Job Description:
The Role
As Health & Safety Manager, you will oversee the delivery of a first-class H&S service across all offices, managing one direct report and working collaboratively with key internal teams including Responsible Business, HR, Facilities and Office Management. You will be responsible for developing robust H&S systems, ensuring compliance with UK and international legislation, and supporting the business with strategic guidance.
This role also holds responsibility for maintaining key ISO standards and acting as Lead Incident Control Officer.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage, mentor and develop the Health & Safety Advisor.
*Provide strategic, commercial H&S guidance across the business.
*Ensure compliance with H&S regulations including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, First Aid, PAT testing and related training.
*Work closely with UK and international offices to ensure consistent H&S processes and best practice.
*Conduct internal audits and ensure documentation, policies and systems are fit for purpose.
*Produce monthly and annual H&S reports for senior leadership.
*Liaise with regulatory authorities to maintain compliance.
*Develop and implement tailored H&S policies, procedures and documentation.
*Carry out office visits, monitor contractor compliance, and oversee permit-to-work processes.
*Support ISO 14001 maintenance and implement an ISO 45001-ready system across the firm.
*Manage firmwide H&S training programmes (e.g. Asbestos Awareness, Fire Safety, COSHH, First Aid, Homeworking assessments, Working at Height, Legionella Essentials).
*Maintain accident, incident, COSHH and RIDDOR registers.
*Provide legal H&S updates and maintain the firm’s Compliance Tracker.
*Act as Lead Incident Control Officer, First Aider and Lead Fire Warden.
*Support workplace adjustments, accessibility needs, maternity assessments and return-to-work processes.
*Manage the Health & Safety budget, including invoice approvals.
Skills & Experience
*Experience managing H&S in the legal sector
*NEBOSH Diploma (preferred).
*Experience implementing or working towards ISO 45001.
*Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
*Highly organised, proactive and able to manage competing demands.
*Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle confidential information.
