Social Worker: Connected Carers (Kinship) Location: Durham County Council (Hybrid / Office Base: Seaham)
Pay Rate: £32.73 per hour

Are you passionate about keeping children within their family networks? Durham County Council is looking for a skilled and dedicated Social Worker to join their high-performing Connected Carers Team. At a competitive rate of £32.73/hr, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to specialize in Kinship care-a field that directly impacts a child’s sense of identity and long-term stability.
�? The Role: Empowering Families In this role, you won’t just be managing a caseload; you will be an advocate for "family-first" placements. You will work with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and close family friends who have stepped up to provide a loving home in times of crisis.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Viability Assessments: Conducting initial assessments to determine if a family placement is safe and sustainable.

* Reg 24 & Form F: Completing robust, high-quality assessments for temporary and long-term fostering approval.

* Special Guardianship (SGO): Guiding carers through the SGO process to ensure legal permanence for children.

* Support & Supervision: Providing ongoing guidance to kinship carers to help them navigate the challenges of their new roles.

?? About You We are looking for a Registered Social Worker who thrives on assessment work and relationship building.
* Experience: Previous experience in Fostering, Kinship, or Child Protection is essential.

* Skills: Strong report writing (Form F/SGO) and the ability to present cases to panels or courts.

* Values: A deep-seated belief that, where safe, children belong with their families.

* Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
