The Role
As Business Development Manager, you will take ownership of new business acquisition while contributing to the long-term commercial direction of the organisation. You will be expected to operate with autonomy, professionalism, and a consultative approach—developing relationships that convert into sustainable revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
*Identify, target, and convert recruitment agencies and SME clients into long-term partners
*Develop and execute a structured new business strategy aligned with growth objectives
*Leverage both outbound activity and inbound warm enquiries to maximise conversion
Consultative Sales & Solutions Delivery
*Engage senior decision-makers to understand business challenges and payroll requirements
*Deliver tailored PAYE Umbrella and CIS solutions aligned to client needs
*Present payroll systems and software demonstrations with confidence and clarity
Relationship Management & Market Presence
*Build trusted, long-term relationships with agency owners, directors, and operational leaders
*Position yourself as a strategic partner rather than a transactional supplier
*Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and regulatory developments to maintain a commercial edge
Future Leadership & Team Development
*Contribute to the design and evolution of the business development function
*Support onboarding, mentoring, and development of future hires as the team expands
*Progress into a leadership role with responsibility for performance management and team growth
Candidate Profile

You will bring:
*Proven success in business development or sales, ideally within payroll, recruitment, or contractor services
*Strong ability to influence and build credibility with senior decision-makers

*Sound understanding of recruitment processes and contractor lifecycles (IR35/AWR knowledge advantageous)
