Job Description:
My client is currently looking for an Accountant to join them on a 12-month FTC where you will play a crucial role in the office accounting function supporting all UK offices. Under the supervision of the Financial Control Manager, you will contribute to providing essential accounting services, ensuring good governance, and monitoring risk and controls within the department.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and various monthly journals with supporting documentation.
*Utilize financial systems such as Emburse and Elite 3E to support the Tax Enquiry Fee Protection (TEFP) process and implement process improvements.
*Complete TEFP monthly bank reconciliations.
*Assist with and review the coding of purchase ledger invoices before posting.
*Prepare monthly property cost accruals in collaboration with the Financial Planning, Reporting, and Analysis Manager to ensure accuracy.
*Manage postings of fixed asset additions, maintain fixed asset schedules, and reconcile the GL back to the Xero fixed asset register.
*Handle the preparation and posting of monthly prepayments and oversee their review.
*Maintain GL codes, review monthly overhead costs, and correct mis-posted transactions.
*Provide ad-hoc analysis of management information, assist with ONS surveys, PSA returns, and raise sundry invoices.
*Maintain bank details for suppliers and staff expenses in the finance system.
*Assist with the annual audit process and support tax schedule preparations.
*Monitor risks and controls within the Finance department, reporting any breaches to the Head of Financial Control.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Accounting knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or a relevant degree.
*High computer literacy with experience in Emburse / Elite 3E preferred.
*Previous experience in a professional services business or partnership is advantageous.
*Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of building trusted relationships.
*Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
*Strong organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities and deliver results within tight deadlines.
