Job Description:
Freelance Journalist / News Reporter
Office based in Hemel Hempstead. Herts.
Rate per story
Joining Publications company who produce 12 monthly local magazines. Great opportunity for recent Graduate or candidate with NCTJ qualification starting their career, or an experienced Journalism freelancer.
Role includes:
*Conducting interviews for stories and advertorials both in person and over the phone
*Suggesting front cover ideas to the news editor
*Writing catchy headlines and picture captions
*Sourcing images to run alongside editorial
*Going out to photograph events/places/people if a suitable image cannot be sent
*Ensuring the originality of all photographs (copyright issues)
*Developing relationships with the local dignitaries and residents of each community
JOB REQUIREMENTS
*NCTJ Qualified or appropriate experience
*A passion for writing and publishing
*Good news judgement
*Able to work as part of a team
*Reactive to hard and immediate news and proactive in difficult situations
*Good time management
*Strong command of English grammar, spelling and comprehension
*Excellent telephone manner
