Job Description:
RM Recruit are working with an Education establishment (Further Education) in Birmingham to support with the recruitment of their Head of Finance vacancy. This key role reports directly to the CFO and the postholder will be the senior leader responsible for overseeing the organisation’s entire financial function.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
*Oversee the production of accurate, compliant, and timely audited annual financial statements.
*Ensure the delivery of precise and timely monthly Management Accounts to support effective decision-making.
*Manage the completion and submission of all statutory financial returns, including the Financial Forecasting Return.
*Lead, coach, and develop the finance team to build a high-performance culture centred on continuous improvement and digital enablement.
*Drive the adoption of advanced financial technologies to automate processes, reduce manual workloads, and provide real-time financial insight.
*Manage the completion of all funder and banking returns, including covenant compliance certificates, ensuring accuracy and adherence to required deadlines.
*Produce audited annual accounts for subsidiary entities in line with statutory and regulatory standards.
*Prepare timely and comprehensive annual budgets, developing and recommending robust budget assumptions informed by sector insight, and maintaining a strong focus on value for money.
The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) and hold management experience in an educational or regulated sector setting. Benefits for the role includes a Local Government Pension Scheme.
