Engineering Buyer

Pure Resourcing are currently supporting a market-leading engineering business as they look to strengthen their procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills and a technical mindset to develop within a busy, engineering-led purchasing environment.
Whether you’re already working in procurement or you’re in an engineering support role and want to move into buying, this position offers excellent long-term development in a stable and well-respected business.

A background in engineering is useful, but not essential — what matters most is your ability to understand technical information, communicate confidently, and manage purchasing activity with accuracy and professionalism.

The Role:
You’ll play a key role in supporting the flow of materials into the business, ensuring production teams have what they need to run smoothly. Your responsibilities will include: *Handling day-to-day purchasing of materials and everything needed to keep production running smoothly
*Working alongside engineering and workshop teams to understand their requirements
*Reviewing quotations, updating pricing, and maintaining supplier information
*Monitoring order progress and keeping production informed of any changes
*Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
*Assisting with cost-saving initiatives and supporting quality investigations
*Carrying out general procurement administration and record keeping
Your background:
We’re open-minded about background — if you’re organised, technically aware, and confident working with suppliers, we’d like to hear from you.
We’d love to see: *Experience in procurement, engineering administration, or similar roles
*Confidence working with technical information or engineering drawings
*Good communication skills with the ability to build rapport with suppliers
*Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
*A proactive, detail-focused approach to maintaining purchasing data
*Competence in Microsoft Office
*Experience using MRP/ERP systems
*Any previous hands-on engineering experience is an advantage, but not essential
Why you should apply: *A clear career path into engineering procurement and supply chain
*A role where you’ll work closely with engineering teams and learn from industry experts
*The opportunity to develop commercial, technical, and supplier management skills
*A stable, long-established employer with a supportive team culture
