Credit ControllerFull-time | Chelmsford | £27-30k plus bens
We are looking for a proactive and confident Credit Controller to take full ownership of our sales ledger and play a key role in improving cashflow, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting the link between Finance and Sales. This is a hands-on role within a growing business, ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, takes initiative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
About the RoleAs our Credit Controller, you’ll be responsible for managing credit, reducing aged debt, and ensuring accurate and timely invoicing. You’ll become the main point of contact between Finance and Sales, helping to resolve customer issues quickly and professionally. Your work will directly support better cashflow, enhanced customer experience, and greater operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities*Take full ownership of the sales ledger and credit control function.
*Chase overdue invoices by phone and email, maintaining professional communication at all times.
*Manage the aged debtor report and monitor high-risk accounts.
*Carry out new customer credit checks and set or review credit limits.
*Resolve customer queries promptly, collaborating closely with the Sales team.
*Process customer invoicing accurately and on time.
*Post and allocate incoming cash receipts daily.
*Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.
*Prepare weekly and monthly debt and cashflow reports for management.
*Identify potential bad debt risks and recommend appropriate actions.
*Act as the communication bridge between Finance and Sales.
*Support continuous improvements across processes, reporting, and automation.
Skills and Experience*Solid experience in credit control and sales ledger administration, ideally within a B2B environment.
*Excellent communication skills, confident speaking with customers and internal teams.
*Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational abilities.
*Comfortable working in a fast-growing environment with evolving processes.
