Job Description:
The Opportunity: Why Join Us?
We are a specialist firm with a reputation for excellence in Claimant Housing Disrepair. Due to significant growth and an increasing caseload, we are looking at bringing our costs function entirely in-house.
This is a cornerstone hire for our business. We are looking for a specialist who wants more than just a "processing" job; we want someone to take full ownership of this department and grow alongside us.
Key Selling Points:
*A Career Pivot Point: Transition from being a "cog in the machine" at a costs firm to being the in-house expert. You will be the go-to person for all costs matters, with the autonomy to shape the department’s processes.
*Realistic Growth & Leadership: We are expanding rapidly. Once established, you will have the opportunity to hire and manage your own assistant, transitioning into a Head of Costs/Management role.
*Stress-Free Commute: We offer free on-site parking and are located in an easy-to-reach area, saving you the time and expense of city-centre travel.
*Culture & Environment: We pride ourselves on a friendly, collaborative atmosphere with a genuine open-door policy. You aren’t just a number here; you are a key part of our legal team.
*Financial Reward: In addition to a negotiable base salary, we offer a structured bonus scheme following your probation period to reward your success in recoveries.
The Role:
We need a candidate who can "hit the ground running" to manage the full costs lifecycle:
*Drafting: Preparing Costs Schedules for trial (N260s) and detailed Bills of Costs upon settlement.
*Negotiation: Acting as a robust negotiator to secure maximum recovery from Defendants.
*Litigation: Commencing formal assessment proceedings where agreement cannot be reached.
*Enforcement: Managing the recovery of agreed funds to ensure the firm’s cash flow is protected.
Candidate Requirements:
*Experience: Must have a proven track record in Housing Disrepair costs (Claimant experience is highly preferred).
*Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of the CPR and the nuances of fixed vs. standard costs within the housing sector.
*Drive: A proactive professional who enjoys the "win" of a successful negotiation.
*Presence: As this is a 100% office-based role, you should enjoy working in a vibrant team environment.
Package & Benefits:
*Salary: Negotiable based on your level of expertise.
*Bonus: Performance-based structure (Post-probation).
*Leave: 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays).
*Parking: Free and guaranteed on-site.
