Head of Consulting (People/HR)

The headline
We’re a growing consultancy delivering high-impact people, HR and finance solutions. We’re scaling fast, and we need someone who can lead, sell, and deliver not someone who needs hand-holding or a long runway to get going.

What you’ll be responsible for
1) Lead delivery (properly)
*Own client delivery end-to-end: scoping, design, delivery, evaluation.
*Make sure work is excellent, on time, and commercially sound.
*Step in where needed—no "that’s not my level" attitude.
2) Be the senior face to clients
*Build trust with owners, CEOs, MDs and HRDs.
*Give clear advice grounded in reality, not theory.
*Spot issues early and deal with them before they become problems.
3) Grow the function and the revenue
*Win work. Expand accounts. Build relationships. Write proposals that land.
*Shape and refine our consulting offers so they are sellable and scalable.
*Bring energy to growth, not excuses.
4) Build a team that performs
*Coach and lead consultants properly direction, feedback, standards. Be honest!
*Create a culture of ownership: people who deliver and care.
*Hire smart, develop talent, and raise the bar.
5) Help build the business
*Improve how we operate: tools, systems, quality control, delivery rhythm.
*Bring ideas and implement them. We don’t need another "strategy deck".
What success looks like in the first 3–6 months
*You’ve taken ownership of key accounts and clients feel the difference.
*Delivery is sharper: clearer plans, better outputs, tighter comms.
*You’ve built momentum: repeat business, referrals, new opportunities.
*The consulting team is aligned, engaged, and performing.
*You’ve introduced structure without bureaucracy.
*You are winning new business and growing a HR function that can support those new clients.
What we need from you (non-negotiable)
*8–12+ years in people/HR consulting within a consultancy environment.
*Proven track record delivering complex programmes (multi-workstream).
*Strong capability across: organisational design, culture, leadership, talent, change, HR operating models. It must be HR experience not project management for example.
*Comfortable advising C-suite and calling things clearly.
*People leadership experience: managing, developing, and performance-driving teams.
*Business development experience: spotting opportunities and converting them into revenue.
*Strong commercial judgement: budgets, margins, resourcing, delivery risk.
