We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner (Container Operations) with a strong background in containerised road transport and Port/Rail Terminal coordination. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective container movements while delivering exceptional customer service and operational performance.

Location: Yorkshire
Sector: Container Transport / Logistics / Port Operations
Monday to Friday | 10-hour shifts between 06:00 – 18:00 | Occasional weekend support (paid overtime)

Key Responsibilities:
*Plan and coordinate container transport operations across Yorkshire.
*Manage daily transport schedules for containerised freight.
*Ensure compliance with transport regulations and operational procedures.
*Book and manage Port and Rail Terminal VBS slots.
*Liaise with drivers, depots, customers, ports, and rail terminals.
*Optimise vehicle utilisation and route planning.
*Monitor KPI performance and service levels.
*Provide proactive customer service and manage client expectations.

Essential Skills & Experience:
*Proven experience as a Transport Planner within the container / haulage sector.
*Strong working knowledge of container logistics, port operations, and rail terminals.
*Experience using TOPPS (Container Transport System).
*Experience with VBS (Vehicle Booking Systems).
*Strong understanding of UK transport compliance and container movement regulations.
*Excellent communication skills (written and verbal English).
*High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
*Strong IT skills with ability to adapt to new transport management systems (TMS).
*Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
*Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced logistics environment.
