Job Description:
SENCO – History TeacherWe are seeking an experienced and committed SENCO – History Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Tower Hamlets on a long-term, full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate professional who is dedicated to supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs while maintaining high academic standards.
As SENCO – History Teacher, you will take strategic responsibility for SEND provision across the school, with a particular focus on managing and implementing access arrangements. You will work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, external agencies, and families to ensure students receive the appropriate support to succeed.
In addition to your SENCO responsibilities, the role includes teaching History for approximately 6–7 lessons per week across secondary year groups. There will also be occasional ad-hoc cover for English, so confidence and flexibility in this subject area is essential. The successful SENCO – History Teacher will be able to balance leadership duties with engaging classroom practice.
The ideal SENCO – History Teacher will have prior experience in an SEMH or similar specialist setting, strong knowledge of SEND legislation, and proven experience with access arrangements. You will be resilient, organised, and committed to inclusive education.

*SENCO experience/qualification
*Have experience with Access Arrangements
*Experience teaching history to KS3/KS4 level
