HGV Driver (Class 1)

Salary: £35,000–£38,000 per year (dependent on hours)

About the Role
A well-established commercial fleet organisation is seeking a reliable and professional HGV Recovery Driver (Class 1) to support growing fleet operations. This role involves the safe movement and recovery of commercial vehicles between customer sites and depots, while maintaining exceptional service, safety, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
*Safely operate HGV and recovery vehicles in line with UK road laws and company procedures
*Transport, collect, and recover commercial vehicles between customer locations and depots
*Complete vehicle collections and deliveries in line with planned schedules
*Carry out thorough pre-use and post-use vehicle checks, reporting any issues promptly
*Ensure all vehicles are safely loaded, secured, and transported
*Provide a professional service when dealing with customers and third parties
*Accurately complete all required paperwork and digital records
*Adhere to drivers’ hours, tachograph rules, and working time regulations
*Support depot operations when required, including occasional fleet movement assistance
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
*Valid Class 1 (CE) HGV licence
*No endorsements
*Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph card
*Minimum 2 years’ HGV driving experience
*Strong understanding of UK road networks
*Safety-focused with strong compliance awareness
*Mechanical awareness or experience working with commercial vehicles
*Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
*Flexible approach to hours and duties
