Accounts Assistant with Payroll Experience

We are seeking an immediately available and experienced Accounts Assistant with a strong background in manual payroll to support our finance team. This role involves managing a small payroll function and focusing primarily on Purchase Ledger duties. The successful candidate will be proficient in Excel, using tools like VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables for financial reporting and analysis.
Day-to-day of the role:
Payroll
*Process a small manual payroll for monthly employees.
*Complete monthly payroll checks and support payroll month-end.
*Support yearly payroll routines including payroll year-end submissions.
*Maintain accurate employee information including starters and leavers.
*Resolve payroll-related queries in a timely manner.
Purchase Ledger
*Process and code high volumes of purchase invoices.
*Match, batch, and code supplier invoices accurately.
*Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.
*Manage supplier payments and maintain accurate ledger records.
*Support month-end ledger routines.
Sales Ledger
*Assist with raising sales invoices and credit notes.
*Allocate customer payments accurately.
*Support credit control activity when needed.
*Assist with customer reconciliations.
Excel and Reporting
*Confidently use VLOOKUP for data matching tasks.
*Create Pivot Tables for reporting and analysis.
*Maintain strong general Excel skills.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Manual payroll experience with an understanding of monthly and yearly payroll processes.
*Knowledge of payroll month-end and year-end procedures.
*Strong Purchase Ledger experience with high volume exposure.
*Beneficial Sales Ledger experience.
*Good Excel skills including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
*High attention to detail with strong numerical accuracy.
*Good communication and organisational skills.

*Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
