Assistant Technical Manager

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Manager to join our team, reporting directly to the Head of Technical. This role is crucial for managing product specifications, customer interactions, and maintaining high standards of quality control within the fresh produce sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food safety and quality management systems, particularly within the fruit and vegetable industry.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Support the Head of Technical and work as part of the technical team.
*Manage and maintain product and customer specifications.
*Handle complaints and rejections by investigating, resolving, and updating internal non-conformances.
*Create and distribute weekly crop reports to customers.
*Support and collaborate with the QC Team, especially in the absence of the Quality Manager.
*Conduct regular visits to third-party packing facilities to perform product inspections and provide quality feedback.
*Assist in maintaining all technical documentation and ensure it is up-to-date.
*Approve labels for products packed at source and liaise with at-source Technical Management Teams.
*Conduct monthly site GMPs, inductions for new starters, and yearly refresher training for all staff.
*Maintain training records and manage training schedules.
*Lead the SMM meeting and manage customer exposure.
*Prepare and analyze data for SMM, including rejections, and conduct bi-weekly benchmarking and GAP Analysis as advised by the Commercial Director and Head of Technical.
*Analyze benchmarking and market gap analysis, distributing insights and results to customers.
*Manage all administrative tasks as required, including PPPL creation, platform, and due diligence maintenance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience within the Fresh Produce sector (fruit and veg) is essential.
*Proficiency in Food Safety, Food Quality, QMS, and BRCGS.
*Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
*Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize effectively.
*Knowledge of BRCGS, product specifications, customer complaint management, and understanding customer needs.
*Experience working with retail customers.
*Spanish speaking is desirable but not essential.
*A valid driving license is essential.
