Adaptable Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a well-established Liverpool-based organisation to recruit an Accounts Payable Clerk. This role has arisen due to a potential longer-term absence within the team and to provide essential cover through to the end of April 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant or Accounts Payable professional to join a supportive finance team in a hybrid working environment, based in Liverpool city centre.
Role Overview
The Accounts Payable Clerk will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the finance function. The role will predominantly focus on high-volume invoice processing, PO matching, and resolving invoice discrepancies.
The successful candidate will ensure supplier invoices are processed accurately and efficiently, maintaining strong internal controls and building effective working relationships across departments.
Key Responsibilities *Process a high volume of supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
*Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes, ensuring correct coding and authorisation
*Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, including PO variances, pricing differences, and missing approvals
*Liaise with internal departments to resolve queries relating to PO issues and ensure prompt resolution
*Communicate professionally with suppliers to manage queries, request statements, and resolve payment-related issues
*Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records within the finance system
*Assist with supplier statement reconciliations and ensure aged items are cleared in a timely manner
*Monitor the AP inbox and manage queries efficiently, prioritising urgent matters
Person Specification *Previous experience in an Accounts Payable or Accounts Assistant role
*Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
*Confident communicator, able to liaise with internal stakeholders and suppliers
*Organised and able to manage workload effectively in a busy environment
*Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems
