Salary: £49,000 - £55,000


We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to join an established electro-mechanical manufacturing company. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive quality excellence across manufacturing operations and shape a quality-first culture within the organisation.
As Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality systems that ensure full compliance with defence industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring all products and processes consistently meet the stringent quality, safety, and reliability standards critical to operational success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESQuality Management System & Compliance *Support and implement the Quality Management System, including delivery of regular management reviews
*Work within ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 guidelines
*Maintain Capability Approval and manage re-approval processes
*Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address non-conformances
Audits & Governance *Own company audit plans and ensure delivery against plan
*Support supplier audits and follow-up actions
*Sign off the completion of all contract quality deliverables and Certificates of Conformance
Supply Chain & Customer Management *Ensure suppliers meet quality requirements and manage the flow down of quality requirements
*Analyse, understand and deliver customer contract quality requirements
*Build strong relationships with Customers Quality Representatives
Inspection & Control *Oversee inspection and testing processes for incoming materials, in-process production, and final products
*Ensure full traceability and documentation for all components and assemblies
Continuous Improvement & Reporting *Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies
Metrics, Reporting & Board Communication
*Monitor and report on key quality metrics and performance indicators
*Create and deliver quality reports and recommendations to the Board
Culture & Leadership *Champion a culture of quality across all levels of the organisation
*Act as a role model for quality excellence, promoting accountability and continuous improvement
*Provide training and guidance on quality standards and best practices
REQUIREMENTS
Essential: *HND or minimum Level 5 equivalent qualification in Quality Management
*Proven experience as a Quality Manager within an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
*Deep understanding of quality management systems and standards
*Experience of introducing and auditing against accreditation standards
*Strong knowledge of Business Process improvement, Root Cause Analysis, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies
*Strong analytical and Excel skills with a keen eye for detail
*Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively
*Experience using ERP systems and software tools for quality management
*Ability to engage at the most senior levels on quality-related issues
*Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, drive and support teams to deliver objectives
*Resilience and strength in the face of challenge
*Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage a full workload
*Conscientious approach with a deep desire to maintain ethical standards
Desirable: *Experience of working in the defence sector
