Job Description:
Mechanical Engineer
About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with a highly respected, technology-driven engineering organisation. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their Great Yarmouth team with the appointment of a Mechanical Engineer.
Working within a clean-room environment, you’ll collaborate closely with Design, Production and Process Engineering teams to deliver high-precision jigs, fixtures and laser-processing tooling that support complex, high-integrity products.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
*Designing jigs, fixtures, nests, alignment systems and handling tools for microelectronic assembly
*Producing detailed 3D models, assemblies and technical drawing packs using SolidWorks, Creo or similar CAD software
*Developing tooling solutions compatible with clean-room and ESD-controlled environments
*Designing specialist tooling for laser processing, including alignment, clamping and thermal management solutions
*Collaborating with Production Engineering to resolve bottlenecks and improve throughput and yield
*Supporting first-article builds, process validation and troubleshooting activities
*Defining manufacturing requirements for machined, 3D-printed and laser-cut components
*Working with suppliers to deliver compliant, cost-effective tooling solutions
This is a hands-on engineering role where your designs will directly influence manufacturing performance and product quality.
About You
We’re looking for:
*A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
*Strong CAD capability (SolidWorks, Creo or similar)
*Experience designing high-precision tooling or fixtures
*Understanding of precision machining and manufacturing processes
*Knowledge of materials suitable for clean-room and ESD environments
*Awareness of laser processing constraints (alignment, fixturing, thermal considerations)
*A collaborative approach, working effectively with cross-functional teams
Desirable experience includes:
*Basic FEA (static and/or thermal)
*Familiarity with automated or semi-automated tooling
*Experience with vacuum systems, optics or micro-mechanical integration
*Understanding of aerospace compliance standards
You’ll be practical, detail-driven and solutions-focused, with the ability to translate production challenges into robust engineered solutions.
What’s on Offer
*25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (with option to buy more)
*Private healthcare and health cash plan
*6% employer pension contribution
*Life assurance (4x salary)
*Employee rewards and discount schemes
*Employee Assistance Programme
*Ongoing training and development support
