If you’re a Mechanical Engineer who thrives on rotating equipment, heavy industry and real hands-on engineering, this is the kind of role that keeps you sharp
We’re hiring experienced Workshop & Field Service Mechanical Engineers for a permanent opportunity based in West Horndon, covering sites across the UK (primarily the South East). You’ll split your time between workshop overhauls and on-site field service work, supporting critical industrial equipment
The Role
• Carry out mechanical repairs and maintenance on rotating equipment including large turbines and a range of pumps
• Maintain auxiliary and balance of plant equipment — gearboxes, coolers, conveyors, valves
• Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers and alignment tooling
• Diagnose faults across heavy engineering environments
• Complete detailed condition reports with clear technical recommendations
• Support and lead planned outages and projects
• Manage your workload effectively across workshop and field assignments
• Deliver high standards of workmanship in line with manufacturer and legal requirements
What We’re Looking For
• Mechanical qualifications — ONC, HNC, NVQ or equivalent
• Proven experience in fault finding, repair, installation and commissioning
• Strong background in rotating equipment within heavy industry
• Confident communicator — written and verbal
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently
• Full UK driving licence
• Able to pass security clearance
Highly Desirable
• Power generation experience (prime movers & BOP)
• OEM pump or turbine experience
• Strong measuring, alignment and reporting skills
• Comfortable with callouts (1 in 5) and occasional working away
What’s On Offer
• Annual bonus and healthcare
• Uncapped overtime structure
• 40-hour week, Monday to Friday
• 28 days holiday plus bank holidays
• Company vehicle, PPE, uniform, tablet and tools provided
• Pension scheme
• Ongoing training and development
This is a long-term opportunity within a respected engineering environment where your technical ability is genuinely valued
If you want variety, responsibility and strong earning potential, apply today
