Our client is a well-established main contractor based in Stockport, delivering high-quality construction projects across a wide range of sectors including industrial, warehousing, commercial, office, rail, retail, and education. Role Overview
They are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can manage projects independently and contribute effectively from day one. Projects typically range in value from £100k to £10m and are primarily located across the North West, with occasional projects in the South.
The role is predominantly office-based, with regular site visits as required.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage all commercial aspects of projects from pre-contract through to final account

*Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and cash flows

*Monitor project progress, valuations, variations, and change control

*Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and commercial procedures

*Procure and manage subcontractor packages, including valuations and final accounts

*Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams

*Identify and implement value engineering and cost-saving opportunities

*Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to senior management

*Ensure adherence to company quality, health & safety, and commercial standards

Candidate Requirements
*Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline

*Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor
*Strong knowledge of construction contracts and procurement routes

*Ability to manage multiple projects and work autonomously

*Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills

*Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail

*Willingness to attend site visits as required

*Full UK driving licence
