Job Description:
An ambitious and fast-growing independent firm in Mid-Kent is seeking a qualified Client Manager to join its leadership team. This is a pivotal hire and an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded accountant ready to step into – or further develop – a leadership role within a progressive, people-focused practice.
The Opportunity
This is far more than a portfolio compliance role. You will take ownership of a diverse client base across owner-managed businesses, providing a mix of hands-on delivery and high-level review across accounts and tax. There is no audit work – the focus is on building relationships, delivering quality advice and adding measurable value to clients.
Alongside managing your own portfolio, you will mentor and develop junior team members, shaping the next generation of talent within the firm. This is an ideal first leadership role for someone ready to take on greater responsibility while still being supported by experienced Partners.
Key Responsibilities
*Managing a varied portfolio of SME and OMB clients
*Reviewing statutory accounts and tax work prepared by junior staff
*Remaining hands-on where needed across accounts and tax compliance
*Acting as the primary client contact and trusted adviser
*Identifying advisory opportunities and supporting clients’ growth
*Mentoring, supervising and developing junior team members
*Contributing to business development and growing your own fee base over time
The Ideal Candidate
*ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
*Strong background in accounts and tax within practice
*Experience reviewing work and supervising junior staff
*Commercially aware with strong relationship-building skills
*A natural communicator with a proactive, "can-do" mindset
*Possesses a touch of the salesperson – someone comfortable spotting opportunities and developing client relationships
*Ambitious and motivated to grow into a broader leadership role
Why Join?
*Clear progression and the opportunity to shape your own portfolio
*Genuine autonomy within a supportive leadership team
*Exposure to a broad and interesting client base
*A culture that values initiative, development and long-term relationships
*A real opportunity to build and grow your fee base with time
This is an excellent move for a technically strong accountant who is ready to broaden their remit, take on people management responsibility and play a visible role in a growing independent
