*Control Room Officer – Local Authority (Wembley)
Location: Wembley (Office-based)
Hours: 36 hours per week, shift work
Pay: £20.08 per hour
Start: Immediate
Requirement: Enhanced DBS essential
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Control Room Officer to join a busy Local Authority Public Safety Control Room in Wembley. This is an essential role supporting public safety, civil contingencies, and CCTV operations across the borough.
You will work as part of a 7-day service covering early, late, night and cover shifts across a 20-hour operational day. Please note: the shift structure may transition to 12-hour shifts covering 24 hours, while remaining a 36-hour working week.
This is a fast-paced, highly responsible, office-based position, requiring professionalism, accuracy, and the ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the delivery of a 7-day Borough Control Room service
Operate CCTV systems in line with legislation, codes of practice, and council procedures
Support Police operations, including supplying evidential footage
Record and monitor Police access to the CCTV room
Train Council and Police personnel in CCTV operation
Ensure authorisation and compliance for surveillance under RIPA 2000
Provide written and verbal evidence, including attending court when necessary
Support civil contingencies arrangements and major incident responses
Maintain strong partnership working with Police and external agencies
Ensure high standards of confidentiality, data integrity, and professionalism
Identify service improvements and contribute to ongoing development
Work shifts, weekends, and bank holidays as required
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in a Local Authority Public Safety CCTV control room
Experience using Police radios
Valid SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) Licence
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word
Ability to handle high-pressure situations, conflicting priorities, and tight deadlines
Clear written communication for producing evidential reports
Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends
Eligibility to pass an Enhanced DBS
