Job Description:
Night Works Site Manager (Civil Engineering)
*Pay Rate: £40–£60 per hour (Umbrella)
*Location: On-site, near Trinity and St John’s – Cambridge Road Car Park
*Job Type: Full-time, Night shifts
We are seeking a Night Works Site Manager to oversee night-time civil engineering works focused on cycle lane installation, footpath widening, and the installation of traffic islands. This role requires managing site operations during the night, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance, and preparing the site for reopening each morning.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Manage site operations during night shifts, ensuring all activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
*Act as the sole representative on-site overnight, making crucial operational decisions.
*Liaise with contractors to monitor progress, site activities, and ensure compliance with NEC4 contract requirements.
*Conduct end-of-shift handovers to the Lead Designer, providing updates, progress notes, and addressing any issues.
*Oversee a second nearby scheme, ensuring all operations are running smoothly and safely.
*Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health & safety standards, and proper use of PPE.
*Address and manage any programme pressures to maintain schedule integrity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven background in civil engineering with significant experience in site supervision.
*Experience managing night works or similar time-critical operations.
*Strong understanding of NEC4 contracts and CDM Regulations.
*Excellent ability to work independently and make safe, effective operational decisions.
*Strong communication skills for effective handovers and contractor liaison.
*Background in civil engineering through formal qualification or relevant experience is preferred.
