Independent Reviewing Officer – Children’s Services
Location: Bolton Council
Contract type: Full time, 37 Hours per week, Initially 3 months, some hybrid working
Salary: £40 UMB per hour (£35.78 PAYE)
We are working on behalf of Bolton Council to recruit an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to provide an effective service for children subject to child protection plans and Looked After Children. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team and contribute to high-quality decision-making and safeguarding practice.
Role overview:
*Chair and facilitate meetings for children on protection plans and Looked After Children
*Develop, implement, and evaluate plans with children, families, carers, and professionals
*Prepare and present information, records, and reports to support informed decision-making
*Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and quality assurance systems
*Work collaboratively within multi-agency teams and networks
*Support children and families in decision-making forums
*Participate in the continuous improvement of service delivery
Essential Requirements *Social Work Degree / DipSW / CQSW or equivalent
*Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience within a childcare setting
*Experience working at a supervisory or leadership level
*Registered with Social Work England
*Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
*Enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references
*Ability to work outside normal office hours (evenings/weekends) as required
*Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including Children and Families Act 2014, Adoption and Children Act 2002, Care Planning, Placement and Review regulations
*Demonstrated skills in chairing meetings, leading forums, and influencing decision-making
*Excellent IT, planning, and organisational skills
Desirable:
*Experience listening to and reviewing children’s views to inform plans
*Experience working with multi-agency groups and understanding their practices
