1:1 Teaching Assistant | SEMH | Canterbury
Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Term Time Only
Long-Term with Potential for Permanent Placement
Academics are recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Canterbury. This role involves working closely with a single pupil, providing tailored academic and emotional support to help them engage positively with learning and school life.
The Role: * Provide consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs
* Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
* Assist with differentiated learning activities inside and outside the classroom
* Build a strong, trusting relationship to promote engagement and progress
* Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate: * Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs (school-based experience desirable but not essential)
* Calm, patient, and resilient under pressure
* Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
* Able to set clear boundaries while remaining supportive
* A positive role model who can build rapport and encourage confidence
** 5 day per week availability
** £90 - £100 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, Term time only
** You MUST have right to work in the UK in order to apply - no Visa sponsorship
