Job Description:
Production PlannerThe Opportunity We are now seeking a Production Planner to play a pivotal role in optimising production processes and ensuring an efficient, reliable supply chain. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will use your mechanical understanding, quality awareness, and ERP expertise to drive operational excellence. This is an opportunity to influence planning performance, support continuous improvement, and contribute to the success of a highly technical manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities * Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and ensure on-time delivery across multi-discipline teams.
* Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address delays, risks, or operational issues.
* Track inventory levels, ensuring adequate raw materials and finished goods; work with Procurement to resolve shortages or overstock.
* Communicate regularly with the Commercial team regarding build plan performance, delivery targets, and any delays.
* Identify bottlenecks or risks within production and implement proactive solutions to minimise downtime and improve efficiency.
* Raise works orders and subcontract purchase orders, incorporating external processing times into the production plan.
* Support the creation and monitoring of facility KPIs, including build plan adherence, downtime, sickness, absence, and stock levels.
* Provide accurate forecasting and reporting to senior management, enabling data-driven decision-making.
* Prepare and present regular reports on production performance and schedule adherence.
* Collaborate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Quality Control, and Logistics to ensure smooth, coordinated production flow.
Essential Skills&Experience * Proven experience in a production planning or scheduling role within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong mechanical understanding and awareness of quality control principles.
* Proficiency with ERP systems, ideally SAGE, and confidence working with data and system-driven processes.
* Ability to analyse production constraints, identify risks, and implement effective solutions.
* Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, commercial, and operations teams.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and coordinate across departments.
* Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and a proactive approach to process optimisation.
* Competence in forecasting, reporting, and KPI monitoring.
* Understanding of assembly processes and business workflows within a technical manufacturing setting.
