Job Description:
Are you an experienced housing professional with strong investigative skills and a solid understanding of homelessness legislation? This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic Housing Service team and play a key role in safeguarding fair decision-making and delivering service improvements.
Local Authority | 3–6 Month Contract (Potential Extension)
Pay: £22.99–£25.11 per hour
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Checks: Basic DBS Required
About the Role
You will lead on detailed investigations into reviews submitted under Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996, as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Your decision-making must align with the Homelessness Code of Guidance 2017 and statutory deadlines.
In addition, you will take ownership of drafting responses to complaints related to the Housing and Public Protection Service, supporting improved practice across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth housing reviews and produce clear, legally sound decisions
Manage complaints through the corporate complaints procedure
Work collaboratively with Housing Operations teams to ensure quality and compliance
Identify training needs and promote best practice across the service
Develop and deliver training based on case law, LGO findings, and service learning
Provide supervision and support to staff involved in reviews and complaints
What We’re Looking For
Experience completing Housing Act reviews or handling homelessness casework
Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written communication, capable of drafting defensible decisions
Ability to manage a demanding caseload within statutory timeframes
Basic DBS (essential—must have or be willing to obtain)
