Job Description:
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a highly respected boutique law firm with an exceptional reputation in the private client space. This is a rare chance to work closely with a Partner on a wide range of trust, estate and tax matters for long-standing high-net-worth families, giving you genuine breadth, autonomy and the freedom to shape the role around your strengths.
The firm acts for a fascinating client base, offering exposure well beyond the typical trust and tax environment. You will not be confined to a narrow remit – this is a hands-on position where you can take ownership of your work, develop your technical expertise and contribute meaningfully to the continued growth of a small, collaborative team. You will also oversee the day-to-day workflow of one direct report.
The role
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality trust administration, estate administration and UK tax compliance services, including:
*Preparing and reviewing Personal and Trust tax returns, including Trust and Estate Self-Assessment, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
*Completing Inheritance Tax accounts (including IHT400 and schedules) and liaising directly with HMRC.
*Maintaining trust accounts and managing routine trust administration, working closely with beneficiaries, trustees, brokers, accountants and financial advisers.
*Administering estates, including completing administration period returns and preparing estate cash accounts.
*Registering and maintaining entries on the Trust Registration Service and ensuring all updates are managed promptly.
*Drafting core trust documents, such as trustee resolutions, minutes and deeds of appointment, for legal review.
*Supporting matters involving Powers of Attorney or Court of Protection deputyships, ensuring accurate records and adherence to best practice.
*Providing workflow oversight, supervision and development for one Tax and Trust Administrator, including allocation of work, coaching and quality control.
The Successful Candidate
*You will bring a strong, practical background in UK trust administration and estate administration.
*You will be confident managing trust and estate tax compliance, IHT forms, TRS obligations and trust accounting.
*You will be comfortable liaising with clients and professional advisers and able to work proactively in a small team where your input genuinely matters.
This position offers an unusual level of variety, visibility and influence within a prestigious boutique environment. It is an ideal next step for someone looking to broaden their expertise, gain more autonomy and work directly with a Partner on high-quality private client matters.
