Job Description:
Assistant Branch Manager
*Annual Salary: £33,000
*Location: Derby
*Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Join a leading timber and building supplies company, recognised for excellent workplace culture, as an Assistant Branch Manager and Stock Controller. This dual role offers a unique opportunity to combine leadership with operational management, focusing on both people management and end-to-end stock control responsibilities.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Assist in creating and implementing a business plan that optimises economic growth and profitability.
*Take responsibility for certain customer sales and maintain a small sales ledger.
*Manage branch operations to meet or exceed KPIs, adapting to changing market conditions.
*Control overhead expenditure and cooperate with other branches and group companies for overall benefit.
*Deliver training, ensure high standards of customer service, and maintain a safe working environment.
*Manage stock to minimise outages and maximise sales, track inventory, and analyse data to manage stock levels effectively.
*Work with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure accurate inventory across multiple branches.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven track record within the Merchant industry.
*Demonstrable experience in people management and team leadership, ideally in a supervisory role within the industry.
*Strong customer service skills and excellent product knowledge.
*Experience in proactive sales with excellent margin awareness.
*Familiarity with Kerridge (desirable) and proficient in stock control.
*Strategic, organised, and excellent communication skills.
*Flexible and adaptable with a ’hands-on’ approach and can-do attitude.
*Full driving licence is required.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Excel to a medium/advanced level.
