Temporary Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant - Xero Experience Essential
Luton | 5 days in office

I’m partnering with Key Stage Housing, a well-established organisation in Luton that’s genuinely committed to supporting the community. They’ve recently had an internal promotion (always a positive sign!), creating an opportunity for a Temporary Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join their friendly and supportive finance team.
You’ll be joining a business that values development, teamwork, and doing meaningful work every day.
Your new role
Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the accounts function, ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping. Your responsibilities will include:
*Processing purchase invoices and coding to the correct cost centres
*Bank reconciliations and daily transaction posting
*Maintaining the purchase ledger and supplier accounts
*Handling staff expenses and petty cash
*Assisting with month-end tasks including accruals and prepayments
*Supporting the team with queries and ad-hoc finance admin
Working confidently in Xero to manage day-to-day bookkeeping
What you’ll need to succeed
*Solid bookkeeping experience within an accounts assistant or similar role
*Strong Xero experience - this is essential
*Good understanding of purchase ledger, reconciliations, and basic month-end
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
*A positive attitude and willingness to support a busy team
*Ability to work on-site in Luton 5 days a week
